This week, Hannah and I have been considering titles for our film and have settled on Saving Ophelia. This is because the film is about how her love for Derek and his love for her helps her overcome her life-threatening disease and so essentially saves her, from death, depression and giving up. It also makes it instantly apparent that Ophelia is a protagonist and gives a slight, but not too obvious, hint about what is to come - audiences will know that something happens from which she will require saving, but will not know what this is. This may well influence viewers to feel sympathy for Ophelia before they have even put the disc in the player. Our chosen title relates to the genre of romance because romance films often have titles that illustrate the involvement of two people, for example; When Harry Met Sally, Me Without You and Lady and the Tramp. Our film shows the involvement of two protagonists as we have Ophelia, who requires saving from something, and then whoever does the saving.
I have also added a music player on to my blog page, playing a piece of music that Hannah and I are considering using in our piece as it is soft, gentle and romantic, as music in romance films often is.
